PUMA Emperor, the model number is 16 0915. The handles are genuine stag. This particular Emperor was a "Warehouse Find". The knife has gorgeous stag handles with lots of character. This model also has the stunning Gold Aristocrat etch. It was hand engraved by the Rothenburg engraver Gerda Hensel who did exquisite "hand-engraved" style that is called “softwood”.
The blade is German 440C stainless steel and the handles are genuine stag with three brass rivets. The bolsters are mirror polished hand engraved brass. The guarantee control number is 65773. This indicates the knife was hand made at PUMA Werks in Solingen, Germany in the 3rd quarter of 1977.
This knife came from a collection of PUMA knives that were owned by a PUMA distributor in Japan. This knife is like it came from PUMA. The knife has been untouched for 38 years. The box was only opened to take pictures of the knife. It is a stunning example of how PUMA made knives during this era.
This knife measures 9 3/4" overall with a 4 1/2" blade. The knife is 5 1/2" long when closed. The front of this knife blade is etched: 915 PUMA EMPEROR - NEW STAINLESS SUPER KEEN CUTTING STEEL - HANDMADE GERMANY.
The knife includes the "PUMA Proof Mark" on the blade: a small dot or ping on each blade was made with a diamond pointed needle, part of the Rockwell blade quality testing. It has a 2 5/8" German stainless steel blade and is 4 1/4" overall length. The blade has a full and clear etch. The blade also has the Rockwell sticker.
The Emperor knife came in the factory PUMA wood presentation box. The knife also comes with the factory gold tag. The Emperor is the largest folding knife in the very popular PUMA Aristocrat Series.
