Prince

PUMA Prince, model number 16 0910. The handles were made from genuine stag horn from the red deer. The guarantee control number is 97674. This indicates the knife was hand made in the 4th quarter of 1976. This model was part of the popular line of Aristocrat” model with gold etching on the blade.

This knife is 4 7/8" long when closed with a 3 1/2" blade. The overall length is 8 1/2". It has a 440A Stainless Steel blade with a long nail pull and jimping on the spine for added grip. The blade is etched: 910 PUMA PRINCE - NEW STAINLESS SUPER KEEN CUTTING STEEL - HANDMADE GERMANY. The handles are gorgeous genuine stag with lots of character and are pinned with three brass rivets. The knife has hand engraved mirror polished brass bolsters and brass liners. The bolster has a brass lined lanyard hole.

PUMA made the Gold Aristocrat German made folding knives using high grade stainless steel and handles, along with high-quality backsprings and locks. Mounting springs and locks is a special art for highly skilled craftsmen who assembles the parts and punches, then mills and hardens the spring and lock, and then finally grinds the pieces to fit a specific knife. Solid brass bolsters are designed to keep the fingers away from the blade edge. The beveled PUMA® clip-point is designed to maximize strength while making it easier to get a superb edge.

PUMA also made a Prince luxury model (Lux) with hand engraved bolsters. The polished brass bolsters were hand engraved (graviert) with the motif "Oak Leaves". The hand engraving was done by the Puma master engravers, Jürg and Gerda Hensel and their team of engravers and carvers. During this era the engraving is absolutely stunning.  

PUMA made four models in the Aristocrat Luxury and regular line of knives. All knives have a different engraving.

1) Earl > "Arabesque" motif > 16 0900.

2) Duke > "Edelweiss" motif > 16 0905.

3) Prince > "Oak Leaves" motif > 16 0910.

4) Emperor >l "softwood" motif > 16 0915.
